Senior Biologist

Chris has over 25 years’ experience as a Fish Health Biologist working in the aquaculture industry, with extensive commercial experience in the UK and abroad. Chris has worked with a wide variety of cultured species and has carried out developmental work in replacement of live feeds in the early stages of marine fish culture. A qualified lead auditor, she regularly audits aquaculture operations on behalf of national retailers.

Chris has a special interest in salmon welfare and has worked on the development of RSPCA Freedom Foods standards since their inception, sitting on both freshwater and seawater working groups. In 2003, she won a Marine Innovation Award from the Highland Biodiversity Project for an investigation into the effect of prolonged fallowing of marine fish farm sites on the recovery of the sea floor. Chris regularly advises on sustainability issues and their relation to fish health.
