Benthic Taxonomist

Janet obtained her BSc in Environmental Biology (marine biology and ecology) at St. Andrews University, following this with an MSc in Biology of Water Management from Napier University, Edinburgh.  She worked for Stirling University at Dunstaffnage Marine Research Laboratory, researching the Environmental Impact of Fish Farming in Scottish Coastal Waters 1984-1988, publishing papers on ‘the effects of salmon farming on the benthos of a Scottish sea  loch’ and  ‘Investigation into Benthic Enrichment, Hypernutrification,and Eutrophication Associated with Mariculture in Scottish Coastal waters’.  She has worked as a benthic analyst identifying marine fauna since 2002.  

 

Jan started working with Fish Vet Group in 2002 and has been an integral part of the Environment team since then. She is an active participant in The National Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control (NMBAQC) Scheme since 2005.
