Chris graduated as a veterinarian from Edinburgh University’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and gained six years’ experience as a veterinary surgeon in practice in Scotland and Queensland, Australia, prior to completing a Master’s in Aquatic Veterinary Studies (with distinction) from the University of Stirling’s Institute of Aquaculture.

Whilst at Stirling, he undertook his thesis alongside Marine Harvest, looking at emergent gill disease in Scottish aquaculture, and has had work published on the microsporidian parasite Desmozoon lepeophtherii in the Journal of Fish Diseases.

Chris sits on the Scottish Government’s Ministerial Group for Sustainable Aquaculture (MGSA) Fish Health and Welfare Working Group.
